Your conclusion is something the candidates should understand before debating. There were plenty of times when these two would walk around an answer like it was a hole in the ground.

I also think that sometimes the candidate tries to simplify too much. The sinking of the economy is not an easy issue to explain, but I felt like the candidates tried too hard to simplify it as to insert how they will miraculously save it.

It's been an interesting election, nonetheless, and I'm ready to see some of the evaluations and critiques of each campaign.

It will be interesting to see what newspapers look like in 5-10 years because they may not exist, in hard copy form anyway.

The business model is changing and people want more localized content. I saw an article recently suggesting the way to save newspapers was to localize content and shoot it to people's cell phones. That feeds the desire for timely, relevant content.

That's an interesting concept, but a thick Sunday paper with morning coffee is always a nice situation. I hope that's always an option in the future.

Take a look at the FREEP website... unless you're talking about some serious scandal you'll get twenty times the amount of comments on the most innocuous sports story as you'll get for hard news.

Ultimately newspapers have to sell. They need to sell copies and sell copy. It's a business. They're giving the people what they want. For whatever (or what little) it's worth.

While the revenue and staffing at my paper have been consistent, I will agree with the editors on this one. The industry is moving toward smaller, more targeted publications such as a specific community's shopping guide, etc. Let's be honest, you can get national news online a lot faster than a weekly pub would have the same story. Just like the automotive industry, the newspaper industry is transitioning to keep up with the times. It will be interesting to see what a newspaper looks like in 5 or 10 years.

A marvelously written post, and a resonating message: treat us like adults and maybe, just maybe, we'll act like them.

And we're all susceptible to bacon's tickling of our nostrils. . . even the vegetarians among us fall victim. It's a special kind of pork. That's for damn sure.

This is an interesting case study. The Packers organization can't really win. If they take him back, they're potentially setting themselves back by not nurturing young talent. If they let him go, he could possibly hurt them, especially if he signs for an NFC team.

But somehow they're coming out of this (so far) relatively unscathed. That is most likely due to Favre doing a great job of positioning himself as selfish and less than truthful.

Personally, I think he should be true to his tearful word and hang it up. His career was stellar. It's now approaching a potentially sad end with this mudslinging. And what if he comes back and stinks? Then his precious legacy is soiled further.
