Spring’s showing marks the arrival of The Masters

It is spring. It is the time for rebirth. Spring brings grass, buds, flowers, trees, rain, mud, green, leaves, lakes, birds, baseball and golf, and so much more. Two things that are a sure signs of spring are Opening Day and The Masters.

Opening day in Detroit at least, is a party. We venture out of our dens to see a first pitch, first hit, first run, cheer, eat hot dogs, listen to Ernie. It is a sign of warmer weather and Michigan at its best. The Masters follows a week or so later. It shows golf at its best but in surroundings that are so beautiful that we all imagine them as our backyard in a few weeks when we have real warm weather.

But The Masters is also about the greatest golf tournament of them all, and past winners; Ben, Arnie, Jack, Gary, Tom, Phil, and Tiger. It is so great seeing them walk the beautiful fairways at the Augusta National Course and charge to victory. I look forward to seeing The Masters this year - in person. But one thing remains. It is spring again.
